The Orthodontic Treatment Process
The first step in the orthodontic treatment process is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Smith. During your consultation, Dr. Smith will examine your teeth and bite and discuss your treatment options with you.
If you decide to proceed with treatment, the next step is to have diagnostic records taken, including x-rays, photos, and sometimes dental impressions. These records help our team create a tailored treatment plan for you. Once your treatment plan is created, we'll schedule you for your first appointment. Your braces or Invisalign aligners will be placed on your teeth during this appointment.
After your braces or aligners are in place, you'll need to come in for regular appointments so we can check on your progress and make any necessary adjustments. The length of treatment varies depending on the severity of the problem and the type of treatment you're receiving, but most patients need one or two years.
After removing your braces or aligners, you'll need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new, straight position.
